How to get out of an emotional rut?

Sometimes we feel upset, empty or simply frustrated at ourselves. It is during these moments that we can also feel lost or helpless because we simply don’t know how to get rid of these feelings.

This is why we have tried to come up with a few simple tips below that may help you out during these times.

1. Acknowledge Your Feelings

You can’t live without dying a little.

Many online tips suggest getting out and exercising more to pump adrenaline through your system, but some people may prefer bundling up in their beds with Netflix – and that’s perfectly fine.

As humans, it’s only normal to feel unhappiness sometimes. You can’t always be happy in life!

So stop running away from negative feelings no matter how bad they seem. No one can love you as well as you can love yourself, so shed a little care for yourself and accept those feelings.

2. Find The Things That Make YOU Happy ( or at least a little less empty )

You must be reminded that not everyone’s treasure is your treasure – you may not enjoy the same things that other people enjoy.

At our lowest, it could be hard to find something that will make us happy. So it’s fine to aim lower and look for something that can simply make you feel less hollowed out. Take things at your own time and pace!

3. Set Small Goals For Yourself

Big or small, successes are successes.

If you can’t stand watching yourself not doing anything, set small goals for yourself! Some examples include: finish 10 push-ups, read a book, watch the movie you’ve always wanted to watch or perhaps even try baking a simple recipe!
Keep tabs on small successes that you can look back on whenever you feel like you’re being unproductive.

4. But Remember, It’s Also Okay To Do Nothing
There’s always a need to recharge.

As mentioned before, different people use different ways to resolve personal conflicts and feelings. So if you don’t feel like doing anything, then don’t!

So if you don’t feel like doing anything, then don’t!

People often forget that resting is also a form of productivity for both your mind and body. So if you feel like doing nothing, rest up and let yourself space out!
