Meet Dr Tricia Yung, Associate Consultant of Palliative Medicine and has been doing it for the past 4 years.
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF IN 1 LINE.
I’m generally a positive person and committed in working on my passion.
TELL US SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU.
I thought about this many times and people have asked me numeral times as well. But I always wanted to be a doctor. An interest that I’ve developed, is that I do enjoy travelling around the world and doing ordinary things such as shopping as these things are therapeutic for me. If I have the time, I will love to learn more skills such as baking and cooking.
WHAT’S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?
To be courageous and fight for what we think is right.
TELL US ABOUT A TIME WHEN THIS PIECE OF ADVICE CAME IN USEFUL.
When looking after patients, there tend to be a lot of ethical issues involved. People challenge us and we sometimes doubt our own decisions that we’ve recommended to our patients. Whether if it’s in the best interest of the patient or following the views of the family as things get tricky especially when families have different views. There are delicate situations where we need to decide how we should advocate for patients that aren’t able to voice out their opinions. Thus we need to learn to be courageous and fight for what we think is right.
